DREAM BIG ,START SMALL- CEO CHRIS WORLD PRODUCTION.

My name is Chris Nzekwe; CEO, Chris World Production. I'm a screenwriter, actor and producer. I'm an indigene of Imo state, Ikeduru Local Government to be precise, but was born and bred in Lagos state. I am the third in a family of five.

I joined the Nigerian Film Industry in 2015 as an actor and my first job was the role I played as a police officer in the then highly acclaimed TV series- Lasgidi Cops, which features the likes of Joke Silva, Wole Ojo, Adesua Etomi, Kelechi Udegbe, Bimbo Akintola, etc. I have also gone ahead to feature in other productions which includes Hell or High Waters, Burning Flames, My Girl, Remember Me, and One Loud Silence, a film which intends to create an awareness about domestic violence and the effects it tends to have on the child(ren) of homes where it strives.  It was produced by me, under the umbrella of Chris World Production, a brand I set up in 2016, and it was directed by Joel Samuel Edeh.

Nollywood has experienced an exponential growth, and it really goes a long way to tell how resilient the filmmakers are. And when I say filmmakers, I mean every person who is involved with the making of good films; the writers, the actors, the producers, the crew. Everyone of them deserves a credit for that. Some of these actors we see on the screen get little or no payment, but for the love and passion of the art, and to see that they contribute in the revolution of Nollywood to tell compelling stories and deliver standard materials, they gladly do it. And it's amazing to see filmmakers chunning out great stuffs despite the challenges of funds, of course in Nigeria, we self-fund our films ourselves, individually. We task ourselves. We only hope we get to that point where organisations, corporate bodies and even the government invest more in filmmaking. This year, Genevieve Nnaji recently pulled  a feat with Netflix for her directorial debut- Lion Heart, but the journey didn't just start this year. It didn't start last year. We are resilient filmmakers in Nigeria, and that has been a major factor in the growth of Nollywood.

My advice to budding filmmakers is simple. Dream big, Start small. Don't just make films because you want to make films. You have to be up for something. You must have a strong conviction with yourself that you really want to do this. Filmmakers are broke people, so don't come thinking you can make wealth with your first production. You may not, even with your fifth. [Laughs]. Be passionate about the art. You have to love it, and enjoy it; and that's when you can truly be resilient, because it's not an easy journey.  Be consistent with your work to stay relevant. Relevance breeds recognition and recognition breeds reward.
